DACC Corporate Education 2021 Fall Training Opportunities

Danville Area Community College’s Corporate Education has upcoming training opportunities available. Effective immediately, face coverings are required for all in-person training participants per CDC guidelines.

DACC Fall 2021 Dual Credit Programs for High School Students

Danville Area Community College’s Dual Credit program allows high school students to take college-level courses and receive college and high school credits. The completed courses and grades are recorded on both the high school transcript and college transcript. The courses must be approved by the high school in advance. The Fall 2021 term begins August 23.

DACC Tutor Wins State Spotlight Award

Secretary of State and State Librarian Jesse White announced the winners of the 2021 Spotlight on Literacy Awards, which recognize participants in Illinois literacy programs. Statewide, 10 students and 10 volunteers were honored for their achievements. One of those honorees, Ann Vogel, Oakwood, has been a tutor for Danville Area Community College’s Reader’s Route program for the past eight years.

A Banner Year for DACC Student-Athletes

The Danville Area Community College baseball team hit the high-water mark of 28 wins during the 2020-21 season. The DACC softball team was close behind with 24 victories. The Covid-shortened season also saw the improving men’s and women’s basketball teams split a dozen wins. The DACC men’s and women’s cross-country teams and the golf teams showed steady improvement—with DACC’s two-year-old women’s squad celebrating the emergence of Mac-kenzie McCoy to compete in the national-championship golf tournament in Daytona, Florida.

Topics include art & hobbies, computer & internet, cooking, dance, exercise, floral arrangement, food service, gardening, grant writing, photography, Boomers & Seniors, Lunch & Learns, and day trips.

Remembering Earl Snyder

Back in 1987, David and Leland Snyder created the Earl Snyder Family Achievement Award in honor of their father. Earl was born in Indianola in 1902 and helped found Jamaica High School in 1955. The scholarship was earmarked for Jamaica High graduates.
